KABANA CONSCIOUS

We have been working behind the scenes to educate and improve our ethical, environmental and sustainable practices and our long-standing charity initiatives. We’ve decided it’s time to make this commitment transparent for you all as our beloved Kabana community. We are conscious that we are a small, Australian family-owned business and are only in the infancy of our sustainability journey, but these small steps are just a glimpse of what is yet to come.

Our Vision

Manufacturing & Traceability

As a company and as individuals, we always strive to make our environmental footprint as minimal as possible. We are inspired by places, nature, cultures and people. We are blessed with wonderful, long term friendships (some extending more than 20 years) with all our suppliers, which allows us to create unique products and ensure that human and labour rights are always respected. Our major factories are accredited with SEDEX for social and ethical compliance, giving us total control and knowledge over our manufacturing process. We know where our fabrics are sourced and printed, where the material is cut and stitched, and where the garments are stored and dispatched.

At Kabana, we are conscious of one of the world’s most precious resources, water. Instead of employing traditional printing techniques that use a lot of water during the process, we print 95% of our fabrics digitally. As a result, we reduce water consumption while obtaining excellent product quality and using the exact amount of ink required for each design.

Fibres

We are committed to changing how clothing is made, starting with our fibres. We have always concentrated on using natural fibres such as cotton, linen and hybrid fibre, rayon. We have begun the process of converting our fabrics to eco-friendly options such as organic cotton and lyocell. Lyocell is made from responsibly harvested trees, so no ancient or endangered forests are cut down for the sake of our clothes.

Reduce, Re-use & Recycle

Our stock is packaged and transported in recyclable poly bags. Recycled cardboard is used to transport our garments, and all boxes are repurposed.

All Kabana cards and marketing materials are printed on 100% recycled paper.

Our postal bags are certified home compostable, fully biodegradable mailing satchels partly made from plants. A circular supply chain is critical to us, and this was a slight change we made early in 2019 as a commitment to our sustainability journey.

Living Our Values

We are endeavouring to improve and set a good example in our industry continually. We have always believed in supporting local and overseas charities, and we have a close affiliation with the following great causes:
